New members of the State Executive Council of the All Progressive Congress have emerged after the State congress of the party held in Edo State.

Former Commissioner for Information, Barrister Anselm Ojezua, was elected State Chairman of the party, while Gentleman Amegor emerged Vice Chairman and Osaro Idah as Secretary.

Thousands of delegates gathered at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium where only accredited State delegates were allowed into the premises.

In all, 52 persons expressed interest for various positions but some had to step down for other candidates before the voting commenced.

After votes were counted and the elected executives were announced, some party leaders noted that the party, having not recycled its executive was a sign of internal democracy at play.

The new Party Chairman, Barrister Anselm Ojezua, expressed gratitude to the delegates and his supporters. He assured party faithful of transparency in the conduct of the party affairs.

The Party leadership reassured members and the public that the party remains one indivisible unit in spite of recent defections of some of its members.

The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, in his speech, commended the peaceful conduct of the polls, adding that the maturity of the delegates and their peaceful conduct was an indication that those party members who left would not be missed.

The next stop for the delegates is Abuja in about two weeks where the National Congress of the party is expected to be conducted.
