President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday nominated ex-Governor of Kano state, Mr Ibrahim Shekarau, and three others for appointment as ministers.

Shekarau is expected to represent Kano State in the Federal Executive Council.

In a letter to the Senate, Jonathan also named Stephen Oruh from Delta State, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye (Ekiti State) and Dr. Abdul Bulama from Yobe State for appointment as ministers.

Kwara and Anambra States without substantive ministers were however not included in the list.

Mr Shekarau was one of the leading candidates aspiring to become president in the Nigerian general elections of 2011. He contested on the platform of the All Nigeria People’s Party that letter joined a merger that gave birth to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Shekarau defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in January, saying the APC lacks structures nationwide.

Over 10,000 others from the 44 local councils in Kano State also defects from the party to the PDP after a stakeholders’ meeting at Shekarau’s residence in Kano in January.
