aircraft maintenanceA N250 million School of Aeronautic Engineering and Air Craft Maintenance has been flagged off at the Atani Campus of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in Ogbaru Local government Area of Anambra state.

The project, with a one year completion period, is sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) but attracted by the former minister of aviation, Princess Stella Oduah.

The project, according to the former Aviation Minister, will help the students of the institution in the area of acquiring skill based education which will create jobs for the students and also help the communities within the area to grow economically when the corresponding benefits of the institution begins to mature.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Godwin Onu, while commending President Jonathan for the TETFUND Initiative and the former minister for her vision in striving to get the school established, said that at the completion of the project, students will be trained in aircraft maintenance with aviation sector no longer recruiting technicians from abroad.

He also noted that students, from their training, will be able to build small air crafts.

The foundation laying ceremony was performed by the Executive Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Dr. Musa Babayo.
