In support of the call to promote peace in the Niger delta and the need for a positive engagement of the youths in the community, the Niger Delta Legacy Programme in collaboration with the US government has produced, ‘Dawn In The Creeks’, a movie that promotes nonviolence in the Niger delta.

At Erema Civic Centre, in Erema community in Rivers State, traditional rulers, youths and women came together for the screening of the Movie, Dawn In The Creeks.

It is an engagement that is aimed at preventing destabilising violence in the Niger delta especially as the 2015 general elections are approaching and the possible end of the amnesty programme, supported by the US government.

The movie, which comes from a media campaign that involves training young people in the art of film making, show cases the challenges ,vices and possibilities of the community that has been bedevilled by violence and youth restiveness.

The indigenes of Erema engaged themselves in a reality conversation to confront their issues, a conversation that the organisers of the event hoped would continue.

Dawn In The Creeks is expected to engage and challenge the youths in the Niger delta to be inspired to avoid violence and seek to make a positive impact in life.
