The Kwara State Police Command has arrested three men suspected to be in possession of fake Naira currency totaling 1.3 million and 14 packs of 100 dollar notes.
The Police Command also paraded a fake medical doctor allegedly canvassing for patronage at a government hospital, Ilorin.
Briefing journalists on the activities of the command in the last two weeks, the State Commissioner of Police, Ambrose Aisabor noted that the command special patrol team arrested the suspects after a Toyota starlet commercial vehicle was intercepted along Jebba road, last Monday.
In their defence, two of the suspects, Mohammed Haruna and Oladele Olaniyi explained they were given the fake currencies for onward transfer to one mallam in Ilorin who was to observe a three-day prayer session, so the money can turn into genuine currency.
The fake medical doctor, Adams John of Unity Road, Ilorin was allegedly canvassing for patronage at Civil Service Clinic, in Ilorin.
The young man was said to be a 400 level medical student of University of Maiduguri before he was rusticated.
He corroborated that he was rusticated but denied using the stethoscope at the clinic adding that the other medical exhibits found on him were for personal usage.
Fourteen other persons were also paraded by the police for engaging in a street brawl over sharing of money given to them by a popular politician in Ilorin, which led to the death of one Tajudeen popularly known as Eba.
