Amosun_ogunThe Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Thursday placed emphasis on sensitising people on the efficacy of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME’s) to incite both economic and social developments.

Amosun, who made the submission when he hosted the National Executive Members of the Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) in his office, called on the association to sensitise the people more on the efficacy of SME’s.

Stressing the importance of SME’s, Amosun stated that “it is critical to any worthy economic development and achievement of the Millennium Development Goal”, he said.

The governor noted that the SME’s form the bedrock for nurturing large scale industries in Nigeria, maintaining that it is capable of providing the necessary raw materials for the industries and probable to gainfully employing the teeming unemployed youths.

“No nation can develop without the real sector while the SME’S are pivotal to provision of raw materials for the large industries and more probable in keeping our teeming unemployed youths off the street,” he said.

He also added that his administration subscribes to a private sector-driven economy and also committed in creating an enabling environment for industries to thrive in the state, which according to him has been repositioned to be the most industrially developed state in the country.

National President of NACCIMA, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar commended the governor for transforming the state, noting that the rebuilding mission of the Amosun administration has been very successful.

Abubakar said employing agricultural development in enhancing the living standard of the rural dwellers cannot be overemphasized and pledged the support of the body in assisting the state to have more industries that would improve its fortunes.

“Some of us who have not been in Ogun for some time now are amazed by the development we have seen and we congratulate you on your success in the Mission To Rebuild Ogun State. We would be visiting again when you permit to discuss how we can establish industrial cluster in Ogun State,” he stated.
