The Nigerian Army has reassured Nigerians that it will soon put an end to insurgency in the country with the cooperation of all Nigerians.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Kenneth Minimah, gave the assurance at an interdenominational service in Abuja, as part of activities marking the Nigerian Army Day celebration.
General Minimah restated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to defend the territorial integrity of the nation against all forms of aggression.
He condoled with Nigerians who have lost loved ones from attacks by militants and promised that the Army would never give up the fight against terrorism.
The Director of Chaplain Services of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Dawuk Danfulani, observed that the country was under siege by demonized persons. He, however, gave an assurance that the nation would come out stronger.
The Nigerian Army marked its annual week without the usual fanfare as it has indeed been trying moments for it.
The low keyed celebration had as its theme; Combating Current National Security Challenges Through Collective Efforts.
Although the event was low keyed, songs of praise were rendered by the parishioners.
