The Ekiti State Governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose, has challenged the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), against imposition of candidates in the build up to the general elections, saying that all aspirants jostling for various political offices must be given a level playing ground.

He was speaking in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital at a grand reception organized in his honour by the Ogun State chapter of the PDP, held at the state party secretariat located along the Presidential Boulevard in the state capital.

Mr Ayodele Fayose, while addressing party members, attributed his victory at the Ekiti State governorship poll to the glory of God but was quick to warn against imposition of candidates by the party leadership in the build up to next year’s elections.

Addressing party members, which included former Deputy Governor of the state, the PDP South-West Chairman, Ishola Filani, and other top members of the party, the National Auditor of the PDP, Fatai Adeyanju, also asked members to close ranks to reposition the party for victory.

The occasion witnessed the defection of a 3-time member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ipokia/Ilaro Federal Constituency, Mr Abiodun Akinlade, from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to the PDP.
