Tanko Al-makuraNasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, has called on his supporters to be peaceful accusing the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislators of breaking the law and working against the interest of the people.

Mr Al-Makura told protesters, who gathered at the Government House to show solidarity, to remain law abiding and await the outcome of the constitutional process.

He assured them of his administration’s adherence to due process and the rule of law, adding that those breaking the law will be held accountable at the appropriate time.

The protesters marched from Keffi to  Mararaba axis, a boundary settlement annexing the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Top on their demand, was the call to the PDP and its elected members of the House to rescind its decision and halt the impeachment plot against Mr Al-Makura, who was elected in 2011.

The protesters expressed their grievances over “frequent interference and impeachment threat on the Governor” which is “distracting him from delivering more dividends of democracy to the people of the state”.

They however recalled that, this is about the ninth time the House of Assembly is making attempt to impeach Mr Al-Makura from office and therefore advised the aggrieved legislators to temper justice with mercy in the interest of peace and progress of the State.
