Jonathan smilePresident Goodluck Jonathan, who is also  observing the Ramadan fast, this evening observed Iftar with Muslim  diplomats in the country.

The diplomats, who started arriving the Villa at about 7pm, took time out to pray at the Mosque located in the Villa before retiring into the new Banquet Hall to break their fast with President Jonathan.

The diplomats were also joined by Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, political leaders in the country as well as ministers in the Goodluck Jonathan Administration.

President Jonathan also assured members of the international community of a free and fair election come 2015.

He charged them to continue to pray for peace and guidance especially now that the entire world seems to be riddled with crisis, saying that this period calls for a deep sense of commitment to one’s faith and compassion for the people.

In his speech, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corp, Ambassador Salaudeen Ibrahim commended the President for his steadfastness in observing the Ramadan fast  which he has carried out since the inception of his administration.
