The impeachment move by 20 Peoples Democratic Party’s lawmakers in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly against Governor Tanko Al-makura has taken a rather comic dimension with some group pronouncing the removal of all the PDP legislators.
The Lawmakers failed to appear on Monday before the investigative panel set up by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Suleiman Umaru Dikko, to investigate the allegations of misconduct and breach of the constitution levelled against Governor Al-Makura.
However, the Governor appeared before the panel and made a brief statement, pledging to defend himself and clear his name of any wrongdoing.
A group of Nasarawa Youth Parliament for Democracy and Good Governance held a session with a Mace at a beer parlor in Lafia, mimicking the state legislators, who met in an undisclosed hotel in Karu and requested that the State Chief Judge disband the probe panel he inaugurated.
According to a member of the Youth Parliament, Musa Danlafia, the lawmakers fell short of their moral and constitutional responsibilities to the state, displaying openly, the shameful extent of their legislative irresponsibility, ridiculing the state in general.
