The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ondo State, Mr. Akin Orebiyi has called on eligible voters in the state to ensure that they collect their permanent Voters Cards at the various registration centres across the state.
The REC gave the indication at a stakeholders’ forum held at the Ondo State chapter of the Nigerian Union 0f Journalist Press Centre in Akure, the State Capital.
Various stakeholders including the representatives of political parties in the state, community leaders, security officials, religious organisation, women organisation, youths and students were present at the forum .
Orebiyi equally urged eligible voters whose names are not on the voters register and those who just attained the voting age of 18 to register their names during the continuous voter’s registration exercise scheduled to hold in the state later this month.
According to him, those who could not present their Permanent Voter Cards would not be allowed to vote in future elections. He added that nobody will be allowed to collect the card on behalf of another person to avoid fraud.
The forum served as a platform for clarifying various issues on future electoral processes in the state as the stakeholders asked questions and made contributions in the forum.
