The on going strike by medical doctors in Nigeria has stalled the plan to conduct a post-mortem on the family of five who died mysteriously in Ogun State in South-west Nigeria.
However, a spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, said a female suspect has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Mr Adejobi told Channels Television while parading three other suspects arrested for kidnapping a former state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Jasper Akinola, on December 24, 2013.
In Temidire Community in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State and in a building on number 3 Ireti Akinbode Street, five members of same family lost their lives in a mysterious circumstance. Days after the incident, residents are still in shock.
Giving the latest police report on the development, Mr Adejobi revealed that a suspect was in the police custody while an inquiry into the incident had been launched to ascertain the immediate and remote cause of the deaths.
In another development, a three-man armed robbery gang was nabbed by the command for abducting the former CAN chairman.
Among items found on them were three AK-47 rifles, five locally-made guns and pistols, pistols and charms. The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, who paraded the suspect before journalists, said the gang had been tormenting residents across the state for a long time.
By this, the police seem to be making some progress in tackling crime in the state.
