Idris_Wada2The Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, has charged civil servants and staff members of the 21 local government areas of the state to explore the potentials in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to improve the quality of their health.

Wada stated this in Lokoja while launching the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), explaining that the scheme was inspired by his administration’s intention to ensure people in the state  have access to effective and quality healthcare services.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Insurance, Dr Dorcas Onuminya, in her presentation listed some of the befits the government has gotten from the scheme since its enrollment.

Also, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Idris Omede, in his speech commended the governor for his interest on the health of the people, disclosing that the enrollment into the scheme are in phases which would begin from the political office holders, judiciary, specialist, staff of tertiary institutions and the state civil servants.

Capt Wada, commended the implementation committee and the political office holders for their voluntary contribution of the 100 per cent premium and added that the programme was aimed at easing the potential dream on cash flow of the government as proposed by the implementation committee.

The Kogi State Governor was captured and registered into the scheme as a beneficiary, while his identity card was handed over to him.

According to the report on National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), it is a process of pooling together resources for health and for the purpose of ensuring effective and efficient services to the people.
