Omar_Nlc_NaijaThe President of the National Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Abdulwaheed Omar, has suggested that the nation’s security agencies should use the Siege Combat Method to tackle Boko Haram insurgents in the north-eastern parts of the country.

According to him, the Nigerian workers are the most affected by the insurgency and asked the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to national development in Nigeria.

The Sect has claimed responsibility for several bombings and kidnappings in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.

The Islamist group released a video on Sunday, August 24, showing their leader declaring an Islamic caliphate in Gwoza, a town located in the northeastern Borno State. The video marks the first time in over five years of insurgency that Boko Haram declared a territorial claim in Nigeria.

The group’s leader said they are now ruling the town of Gwoza according to Islamic law.

However in a swift response the Nigerian government said there is no Islamic caliphate in Gwoza, as claimed by the Boko Haram terrorist group.

The Minister of Information, Mr Labran Maku, told reporters on Monday in Abuja that the claims of the group was not true and that the Federal Government was on top of the situation.
“No part of Nigeria has been or will be ceded to any sect or illegal group,” he said
