Ebola DoctorsRepresentatives of the World Health Organisation, UNICEF, Medicines Sans Frontiers and Centre for Disease Control and Prevention came to together in Rivers State on Tuesday to intensify efforts aimed at pressing home accurate information as regards managing the Ebola outbreak in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the team, the Director, Ebola Emergency Operations Centre, Faisa Shuaib, stressed that the Ebola Virus Disease could be better managed when information about the disease is properly presented to the public.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Samson Parker, is also holding an Ebola sensitisation tour in communities in the state to raise the awareness on how the people could cultivate safety culture to contain the disease.

At a forum in Okrika, Mr Parker said Rivers State had contained the disease, urging people not to be afraid to report any suspected case.

On Monday, the Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, put the number of Ebola cases in Nigeria at 19, with seven deaths recorded in both Lagos and Rivers States.

He said that Nigeria was doing its best to wipe out the disease that has claimed at least 1500 lives in West Africa.
