SuntaiAfter spending several weeks in a London hospital, Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State is back in the country.

Governor Suntai had travelled to the United Kingdom to receive further treatment after he sustained injuries in a plane crash in 2012.

However, journalists and dignitaries, including the Taraba State Deputy Governor, Garba Umar, who were on hand to receive him were not able to catch his arrival at the airport.

For several hours, journalists and political allies from Taraba State, including the Minister of State for Niger Delta, Mr Darius Ishaku, gathered at the international wing of the Abuja airport.

There were uncertainties as to the point of entry for the Governor and the Deputy Governor shuttled between the local wing and the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport.

Not long after, the Governor’s convoy pulled out of the tarmac and headed towards the Abuja city centre.

The media were subsequently allowed to see him at the retired General Theophilus Danjuma’s guest house in Asokoro.

Key political figures from the state also assembled at the residence and held a prayer session.

The Governor’s state of health has heightened political tension in the state since August 2013 when the Governor was returned to the country in a dramatic fashion. A situation that has strained the relationship between the Governor and his deputy.
