CorruptionParticipants at the first Niger State Investment Climate Summit have identified corruption and greed as the bane of attracting more investors into Nigeria.

They opined that unless an urgent step is taken to address these monsters, the investment drive of both the Federal and State Governments would be a mirage.

Also speaking at the event, Executive Secretary, Nigeria Investment and Promotion Council, Saratu Umar, advised states to plan a deliberate investment campaign to attract investors across the world instead of depending on the Federal Government.

The Chairman of the event and Minister of State for Agriculture, Asabe Ahmed, said that investment in the Agriculture sector is the best thing that can happen to any state.

She also told the audience that the Agriculture sector is a major part of the transformation agenda of the Federal Government

Governor Muazu Aliyu of Niger State appealed to the Federal and State Governments to invest in security as, according to him, no investors would invest in an insecure environment.

The two-day summit with the theme: ‘Building a Sustainable Business Environment in Niger State’ aims to make the state the most preferable business destination in the country.
