Adamawa

James NgilariA Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed Wednesday, October 8, for verdict in a suit filed by former Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Barrister James Ngilari, challenging the legality or otherwise of his exit from the Government House.

Counsel to the former Deputy Governor has argued that the Deputy Governor should have been sworn in after the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako.

Although lawyers to the defendants have argued that the former Deputy Governor resigned from his office before the impeachment of the Governor, counsel to Mr Ngilari continue to contest the authenticity of the resignation letter allegedly submitted by his client.

The court would re-convene on Wednesday, October 8 to give its judgement on the matter.

The verdict could affect the October 11 date for a bye election as scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
