The First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun has explained the idea behind going Green as a way of educating children and the youths to be responsible for the environment they live in.
She said one of her main interest was to reach out to children but through an essay competition called “Green Essay Competition” which will educate the children. Mr Amosun said that the competition was on a national level.
“We thought that if we tell children to just read the book and have an idea about going Green they might not be interested so we felt that if we organise a competition and tell them there will be great prizes, the children will be motivated to read the book which the competition will be based on.
Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Saturday Sunrise, the First Lady noted that it was easier to impact knowledge into the young ones. “The intention is for us to have a green generation, such that its their way of life, so they impact it to everyone around them”.
The competition is in collaboration with Channels Book Club.
