Seven Dead In Kano Suicide Bomb Attack

Seven people, including a suicide bomber, have been killed after a bomb exploded at a fuel station in the Hotoro area of Kano metropolis in northern Nigeria.

Out of the seven dead victims, three are said to be policemen who were guarding the facility at the time of the attack.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Adenrele Shinaba, confirmed the attack.

He said five people were injured in the blast that occurred at a filling station belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Mr Shinaba explained that the suicide bomber drove into the fuel station in a Toyota Sienna car, pretending to be a customer before he detonated the bomb.

It is the third suicide bomb attack occurring within one week in the northern part of Nigeria.

A suicide bomber on Monday detonated a bomb while students of a government secondary school in Potiskum, Yobe State, were at the assembly hall, killing over 30 students and several others injured.

Two days after the Potiskum attack, a female suicide bomber blew herself up at the Federal College of Education, Kontagora, in Niger State.

Although it was initially thought that the suicide bomber was the only one killed in the blast, it was later discovered that a 200-level student of the college also died in the incident, which also left four others injured.

No group has claimed responsibility for the Kano attack.
