Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, has challenged the Nigerian military to devise a new strategy in its fight against terrorism in the north-east of Nigeria.
Prof Jerry Gana, who was speaking at a forum in Abuja, suggested the mobilisation of every Nigerian that is willing to join in the fight and put an end to the Boko Haram menace once and for all.
“In every nation, when it comes to the issues of security, there’s no politics. So I will like to appeal that all Nigerians should now resolutely mobilize so that together we can defeat terror.
“I’ll also like to appeal to Mr President and the armed forces that they may have to now change strategy because it appears that the conventional warfare tactics of the armed forces is not working.
“We have to now mobilize the youth of our land, mobilize if necessary, the reserves. Let there be a popular mobilization and let there be a reaction by everyone in Nigeria willing to go out there and defeat these people.
“You’ll be amazed how the youths of Nigeria will arise. They did so during the civil war and they can do it again,” he told Channels Television.
