Defence Headquarters yesterday said the Nigerian Army has regained control over the recently captured Gombi, Pella and Hong towns in Adamawa State, adding that normalcy has been restored to Chibok in Borno State.

Using its Twitter handle, the Defence Headquarters said “Our Troops are in full control of Gombi, Pelia and Hong as operations to clear all areas infested by terrorists continue.”, adding that “Many terrorists are being captured as some die. Weapons and equipment are also being recovered. Mopping up ongoing in the area even”, it said with the handle @DefenceInfoNG .

The Defence headquarters also noted that the “terrorists who attacked Chibok town early yesterday have been effectively flushed out and subsequent mopping up is still ongoing”.

They further added that the “troops will continue pursuit of fleeing terrorists and arrest the wounded.

“Normalcy is restored. #CHIBOK is secured”.

It would be recalled that the Adamawa towns were reportedly captured last week as Boko Haram insurgents launched another set of attacks in an attempt to seize more territories in the North-East.

Adamawa State is one of the three states that have been under emergency rule since May 13, 2013.
