The APC Lagos Primary election, holding at the Onikan Stadium was slated to commence at 10 am on Thursday morning, but did not kick off until about 2pm when 251 Epe Local Government delegates took to the polls to vote their candidate.
Over 6,000 delegates were expected to vote from across 20 local governments in the state.
Although the voting is being carried out via the open-secret ballot system, Channels Television’s Political Correspondent – Seun Okinbaloye – noted that voters were closely watched by on-lookers.
A Senator resident in Lagos, Gbenga Ashafa, who was also at the event commended the process, “This is democracy at play. This is transparency. The whole world is watching,” he said.
Also, during the event, the APC Lagos Chairman, Chief Ajomale, addressed the delegates, denying allegations he had asked them to vote a certain aspirant out the 13 vying to be the Party’s flagbearer in the forthcoming governorship election.
