President Goodluck Jonathan says his administration is determined to diversify Nigeria’s economy through the utilisation of the creative industry and other intellectuals.
At a meeting with creative professionals led by Mr Segun Arinze at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital, President Jonathan said his administration would continue to support the industry to take it further.
The President said that apart from the substantial contribution of creative artists to the country’s economy, they have been worthy ambassadors.
He said that although the country was facing numerous challenges, his administration was committed to addressing the problems
Nigeria at the moment is facing security challenges in states in the north-east and in very few other states in other parts of the north.
Nigeria’s movie industry, Nollywood, recorded a significant contribution in the growth of Nigeria’s economy after it was rebased and President Jonathan is looking to expound the contribution of Nollywood to the economy.
