Ibrahim_GaidamGovernor Ibrahim Gaidam of  Yobe State has sworn in two new commissioners, urging them to work assiduously to the success of his administration.

The swearing in of the two commissioners was performed at the WAWA Hall of the Government House in Damaturu, the state capital, on Wednesday.

Three members of the State Civil Service Commission and a member of the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) were also sworn in.

Administering the oath on the appointees, the Governor said the appointment of two new commissioners was to fill in the vacuum created by the resignation of Mohammed Dakasku and Sidi Karasuwa who both contested for the National Assembly primaries conducted recently.

He directed political and public office holders in the state to work hard towards promoting the guiding philosophy of moving the state forward.

The Governor said the appointments would help rejuvenate the civil service for efficiency and productivity.

Mr Gaidam warned the newly appointees, particularly the commissioners, that the primary concern of his administration was to implement policies and programmes that would improve the living standard of the common man.

While charging them to ensure transparency, accountability and judicious utilization of public funds released to them also directed them to work in harmony with their subordinates’ particularly permanent secretaries and other civil servants for the overall development of their organisations

He further said that the appointments were done based on wide consultation with relevant stakeholders while their selections were done base on their track record as well as honesty, and dedication to duty.

The Governor commended the members of the State House of Assembly for the speedy screening and confirmations of the nominees submitted to them by the executive arms.

He then urged them to abide by the oath of allegiance and oath of office they took and called on their staff and people of the state to accord them the necessary support in their new assignment.

Governor Gaidam also asked the people of the state to validate their voter’s card ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Mr Dawa Mai Gari and Mr Ibrahim Umar Potiskum were sworn in as commissioners while Mr Gambo Bizi, Khalifa Hassan Yusuf and Mr Bukar Lawan Gana as members of the State Civil Service Commission. Mr Mustapha Maina took oath as member State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC)
