Ogun-State-governor-Ibikunle-Amosun-The Ogun State government has built and commissioned a transit home at Asero correctional home in Abeokuta, the state capital, to ensure a better and a new lease of life for victims of various social menace.

The transit homes would house the victims  before being reunited and reintegrated back into the society and with their families.

Commissioning the project before the transit home officials, inmates of the correctional home and orphanage homes in the state, Governor Amosun assured them of a brighter future.

The government also seized the opportunity to host the inmates of various orphanage homes across the state with donation of food items and cash.

Addressing these children, the Governor gave a message of hope and of a brighter tomorrow.

The state Commissioner For Women Affairs and Social Development,  Elizabeth Sonubi, solicited for more support from corporate organisations and individuals in the upkeep of the children of the centre.

She said the rate of abandonment in the state had reduced drastically, a development she attributed to a well defined social programme of action being put in place by the government.

The juvenile correctional home located at Asero area of Abeokuta, the state capital, was established in 1958 as a correctional home for children who are in conflict with the law.

To further expound its functions in line with modern day realities and development, the transit home, equipped with modern facilities, was built by the state to provide an abode for victims of domestic violence, and victims of other societal menace before they are reintegrated and reunited with their families and the society.
