Gunmen suspected to be cattle rustlers have killed two German tourists in a bush bordering Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory.
The two German nationals were said to be staff of Julius Berger Nigeria PLC and were on a site scene when they were attacked by the suspected cattle rustlers. Their bodies were abandoned by the gunmen who fled the area immediately.
The incident was said to have occurred between Runji and Idu in the Bwari Area Council Abuja, the nation’s capital, very close to the boundary with Kaduna and Nasarawa States.
An indigene of the village told Channels Television that the deceased, who were riding motorcycles, were mistaken for vigilantes by the rustlers who were heading towards Abuja with dozens of cattle stolen from Kagarko in Kaduna State.
Police authorities at Jere, the headquarters of Kagarko Local Government in Kaduna State confirmed the incident, but stated that the place where the incident occurred was not within their areas of jurisdiction.
