BabbangidaThe Yobe State Government has commiserated with the people of Babbangida town four days after Boko Haram militants carried out a coordinated attack in the town which left many public structures destroyed in the troubled north-east state of Nigeria.

During the visit, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam promised to continue partnering with security agents in the restoration of peace in the state.

Represented by his deputy, Abubakar Aliyu, places visited as burnt by the insurgents include the military base of the town, the divisional police station and the Local Government secretariat as well as the Emir’s palace.

The insurgents also set fire on a shopping complex in the town and burnt several vehicles belonging to security forces and the Local Government council.

Commiserating with the people of the area, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam promised to support the security agencies with the needed logistics in the fight against Boko Haram among other criminals frustrating peace in the state and the country as a whole.

He expressed dismay over continuous terrorist attacks on the innocent citizens and called on well-meaning people to intensify prayers for the restoration of peace in the north-east and the country in general.

The Emir of Jajere, Mai-Buba Mashio, thanked the State Government for the sympathy visit and support it has been rendering to security forces and prayed for God’s intervention.

The Babbangida violence was the first major attack carried out by the Boko Haram militants in the year 2015.

Babbangida is the headquarters of  Tarmuwa Local Government Area and is situated 50kilomeres north of Damaturu the state capital.
