YeroKaduna State  Governor, Mukhtar Yero, has debunked allegations that he is asking his supporters to attack the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Mallam Nasir El-rufai.

The governor, was quoted as telling his supporters in Hausa Language during a political rally last week to revenge any attack from APC members.

“If you are born of a woman, please pelt us with stones, when we go out for campaigns. We dare you to destroy or burn our vehicles. Burn our House,”, adding that “I swear by Allah, anyone who does any of these things, we will revenge.”, he allegedly said during the rally.

But in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesman, Ahmed Maiyaki, the Governor said he could not have uttered the statement attributed to him.

In the statement, the governor’s spokesman said “it has come to their notice that some persons seeking to score cheap political points have resorted to ascribing negative meanings to the recent call by Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero on supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State not to succumb to blackmail and intimidation ahead of the next general elections”.

He explained that those carrying the story are those who “misconstrued the Governor’s appeal on PDP supporters to brave the storm ahead of the polls to mean a call to violence

Mr Maiyaki added that “Governor Yero never and will never call for violence in a State that he has the privilege of being Governor in the last two years”.

He appealed for calm before, during and after the forthcoming elections, adding that, as an advocate of peace right from his early years, his prayer is that people should conduct themselves peacefully and be allowed to vote for persons of their choice without intimidation or force.

He added that People should be free to support candidates of their choice no matter the part of the state that they may reside.
