nigerian-MilitarySome youths in the south-western part of Nigeria have supported the use of military in the general elections to boost security, stressing that it will guarantee security of life and property.

The support came on Saturday amidst divers opinions about the proposed deployment of military for the monitoring of the elections.

At a sensitisation and awareness programme on the forth coming general elections held in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, for south-west youths and women, the group also asked the women and youths of the South-west geo-political zone to obtain their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).

“The Best For Nigeria”

The group, however, admonish voters in the zone not to sell their PVCs as the they remained the only potent instrument to elect the candidates of their choice in the general elections.

Addressing the gathering, the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Youth, Mr Yusuff  Kunle, said that despite many challenges trailing the distribution of the PVC in many states, it remained the only weapon for eligible voters in the country to have the candidates of their choice get elected in the forth coming general elections.

The PVC has, however, continued to dominate discourse at various fora across the country and the gathering involving youths and women from the south-west was not left out of this.

The group further sought support for President Jonathan, insisting that he remains “the best for Nigeria”.
