Matches played in the second day of the Lagos Preliminaries for season seven of the Channels National Kids Cup produced twenty-one goals, with last year’s second runners-up, Dr. Teslim Elias emerging the biggest winners at the Onikan Stadium.
Hopeland Primary School and St. Francis got the first game going. It was a game of two halves that could have been won by any of the teams but in the end, it was Hopeland that advance with a 1-0 victory. Kingsley Chinedu scored the only goal.
The second game between InnerCity School and Dorcas Memorial School also ended with a 1-0 score line. Emeka Enyirbe’s goal in the first half, made the difference for InnerCity.
Eunifrance School, Ikorodu and African Church, Primary School, Ikola played arguably the best game of the day. It was a contest.
Oseni Temitope gave the Ikorodu team the lead in the 10th minute. African Church pumped up the pressure but could not get the equaliser.
Jimadu Waliu dented their hopes in the 40th minute, when he scored the second goal for Eunifrance. Hassan Nuru pulled one back for the African Church but it was too late to level up. Eunifrance won the game 2-1.
Donmen Schools had an easy ride, beating Royal Blazers 3-0 with Gabriel Okechukwu, Soyemu Tomiwa and Ibrahim Daga scoring the goals. Abjoel also swept aside Uncle Bayus Primary School 4-0.
Dr. Teslim Elias showed no mercy in their game against Excel Immaculate, as they cruised to a 5-0 win to emerge the biggest winners on day two.
Last year’s star player, Isiaka Adedeji, was among the goalscorers.
In the last game, Rockford Private School defeated Great Hakeemson 3-0 to wrap up activities for the day.
