The Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has inaugurated the state’s Skill Acquisition and Empowerment Scheme for youth empowerment and poverty alleviation in the state.
The event, which took place at the Technology Incubation Center (TIC), Nnewi, had the first batch of the programme – 500 youths selected from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The trainees, who will be spending between three weeks to two months, would receive training in Information Communication Technology (ICT), spare parts fabrication, fishery, and production of beverages, cosmetics and various types of detergents amongst others.
In a similar development, the Governor commissioned the customary court in Nnewi, where he said he had already perfected plans for the construction of a world standard high court in the three senatorial zones of the state.
Governor Obiano had earlier affirmed his commitment towards developing markets across the State by putting in place modern amenities and infrastructure that will enhance hitch free commercial activities in line with global trend.
According to him, the facilities would include electricity, toilet facility, firefighting equipment, water and construction of all the roads that lead to the state’s major markets.
The Governor solicited support from the traders in the state for his government especially in the coming elections to ensure that All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidates emerge victorious.
