INECFew days to the general elections, the Ogun State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is yet to take delivery of about 153,000 Permanent Voter Cards belonging to residents of the state.

The Administrative Secretary of INEC in the state, Mr Dickson, made the disclosure in Abeokuta, the state capital, while commenting on latest development in the distribution of the Permanent Voter Cards in the state.

He appealed for patience from those who have not been able to collect their PVCs, promising that the remaining and last batch of the cards due to the state would be delivered soon.

The Administrative Secretary also noted that in spite of the challenge, the commission has reached 63.3% distribution of the PVC meant for the state.

The INEC National Commissioner in charge of Oyo, Ekiti and Ogun states, Prof Lai Olurode, has expressed concern over the failure of residents in Ogun State to collect about 589,377 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

He made the comment during a press briefing held in Abeokuta barely a week before the deadline for the collection of the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) across all 36 states of the Nigerian Federation as well as in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had extended the distribution and collection exercise of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) by two weeks when the general election was postponed from February 14 and 28 to March 28 and April 11.

INEC said on its website that of the 68,833,476 registered voters only 56,350,776 representing 81.87 percent had collected their PVCs, as at March 17, 2015.
