The president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, says Lagos State has more to benefit under an All Progressives Congress (APC) administration than under any other party.
General Buhari was speaking in Lagos on Tuesday at a rally held at Coker, Surulere, where he asked the electorate in the state to vote for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship and state assembly elections on Saturday.
The president-elect thanked Lagos voters for choosing him in the presidential election, promising to look into the issue of the refund of the huge fund spent by the state government to maintain the federal infrastructure in the state.
At the rally, also attended by the National Chairman of the APC, Mr John Odigie-Oyegun, Governor Babatunde Fashola and his Rivers State counterpart, Mr Rotimi Amaechi among others, the APC national leader, Mr Bola Tinubu, warned against dragging traditional rulers into politics.
Referring to the controversial statement made by the traditional ruler of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, against Igbos resident in the city, Mr Tinubu explained that the Lagos State government had never discriminated against Igbo indigenes and other residents from other ethnic groups in the state.
He blamed the Coordinator of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, Mr Ifeanyi Ubah, for allegedly leading the delegation that visited the Oba of Lagos at his palace, where he made the controversial statement.
