policeKano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 3 persons suspected to have kidnapped Umar Aminu, a 4 year old boy.

Addressing a news conference, the Police Public Relations Officer, Magaji Majia, said that the arrest came at a time when the suspects demanded a ransom of 3 million naira for the release of the boy.

According to reports, a 25 year old Bello Wada conspired with Aliyu Tasiu and Fauziya Bala, to kidnap Aminu at his father’s residence in Tudun Wada Local Government.

Aliyu Tasiu is a family member who has access into the house of the grandmother that takes care of the victim.

Aliyu was said to have obstructed the view of the grandmother, while the child was taken away by Bello Wada who subsequently handed him over to Fauziya Bala, to keep pending the payment of the ransom.

“He is my brother but conspired with his friends to take away my grandson. He later called me that if I did not pay three million I will never see my grandson again,” the grandmother said.

However, in an interview with journalists, the suspects said that they kidnapped the child after his father turned down their request for some money to start up a poultry business.

“We kidnapped the boy because his father refused to borrow us money to start a poultry business, therefore we kidnapped the boy to see if we can be able to secure the money,” they said.

The Police said that the boy has reunited with his family and the suspects would be charge to court after all necessary investigations are made.
