Court JusticeA Federal High Court in Aduwawa Benin city has sentenced Michael Igbinedion to a three year jail term with an option of three million Naira fine.

Michael is the younger brother to the former Edo State Governor, Lucky Igbinedion.

Presiding Judge, Justice A. M Liman, also sentenced a former Personal Assistant to former Governor Igbinedion to two years in prison without an option of fine.

Mr Michael Igbinedion alongside Mr Eboigbodin were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an 81-count charge including money laundering, misappropriation of funds, conspiracy and abuse of office.

The EFCC had taken the convicted persons and their companies to court over an alleged 25 billion Naira fraud committed while Lucky Igbinedion held sway as Edo State Governor.

Counsels to the accused persons have said that they would study the judgment and advise their clients on the next line of action.
