Resident Doctors of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, on Tuesday, blocked the entrance to the Osun State House of Assembly, protesting the non-payment of their six months salary.
With various placards reading inscriptions like ‘This is Economic Genocide’ and ‘Osun Doctors now live in Poverty’, the protesting doctors called on the leadership of the House to help adress their plight.
President of the Resident Doctors, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Dr Olalekan Ajayi, who spoke to journalists, said that the situation had become unbearable with no one giving any answer to the solution to the unpaid six months salaries.
He maintained that despite the hardship facing them, the doctors have continued to discharge their duties to the people of the state.
Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Akintunde Adegboye, who addressed the protesting resident doctors appealed to them to bear with the government.
He gave them an assurance that the legislature would commence talks with the executive to fashion out ways of solving the issues surrounding the workers’ unpaid salaries.
