Nigeria's high commissioner, tafidaThe Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, has blamed the indifference of Nigerians to registration with the High Commission in the UK or any other country for the lack of a comprehensive data base for Nigerians abroad.

Speaking while receiving a delegation from Channels Television in the UK, Ambassador Tafida called on Nigerians not to live in isolation when they are abroad but admits a database will be impossible if there is no change in mind-set.

Ambassador Tafida was speaking at a meeting between diplomats and staff of Channels Television.

The Channels TV, team headed by the Chairman CEO, Mr John Momoh, are in London for the official launch of the station on B-Sky-B platform.

Mr Momoh, told the diplomats that this is a defining moment for Nigeria and the rest of Africa, adding that with Channels TV in the UK, on an international platform such as Sky, an opportunity has emerged to tell Africa’s story and showcase the good news that hitherto has been obscure.

Ambassador Tafida couldn’t agree more. He maintained that for him, it is imperative to have an alternative narrative to the myths and stereotypes about Nigeria and Africa.

The meeting also provided the opportunity to engage with the High Commission on issues that many Nigerians abroad have expressed concern about.

The meeting precedes the official launch of Channels 24 on B-Sky-B UK on Friday, May 15 at the prestigious Café Royal in the heart of London.
