Addressing reporters on Wednesday in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city and flanked by some members from both the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, Honourable Jibrin said he would now support Honourable Yakubu Dogara for the position of the Speaker.
With the move, only two legislators would be contesting for the position of the Speaker, Honourable Yakubu Dogara from Bauchi State and Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila from Lagos State.
Honourable Jibrin expressed hopes that whoever would emerge the Speaker would be determined by the lawmakers themselves, adding that the party would respect that choice.
In another development, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, told journalists in Abuja that his party had neither fielded a candidate nor endorsed the candidacy of any contestant for the Senate Presidency.
Mr Metuh also decried an alleged threat from Senators of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to their colleagues to either support their candidature or be persecuted.
