Yobe Police Command Reveals Readiness To Combat CrimeThe Yobe State Police Command has re-iterated its determination to be on the watch to tackle any criminality within the State.

The development is coming as security forces deepen efforts towards tracing criminals to their hideouts by intensifying highway patrol, following the removal of check points across the country.

Meanwhile, there were mixed feelings among Yobe State residents on the Federal Government’s directives that check points across highways be dismantled.

While some expressed that it would curtail corrupt practices of some overzealous security personnel, others opined that it would pave way for free entrance and exit of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents.

Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Mr Markus Danladi, who unveiled 35 patrol vehicles received from the force headquarters, expressed hope that the gesture would assist the Command in fighting crime.

Presenting the vehicles on Wednesday to the State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, Mr Danladi explained that the police had taken delivery of 35 vehicles so far and would be effectively used for the purpose intended.

He observed that with what was delivered, coupled with the ones on ground, previously supplied by the State Government, the police would be fully equipped to face any security challenges.

Inspecting the vehicles, Governor Gaidam praised the Federal Government for the supply of the vehicles aim at combating crime in the state, noting that the gesture was the first by the Federal Government since the commencement of the insurgency.

The Governor tasked security operatives to make the best use of the vehicles for the purpose intended and assured of his administration’s support in the discharge of their duties.

However, the state’s residents praised security operatives for their patriotism and resolve to fight the activities of the insurgents, assuring to cooperate with them to end the insurgency in the north-east geopolitical zone.
