FG Palliative Will Help Augment State Resources – Wada

Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, has said that the palliative to be given by the Federal Government to states will help augment the resources of the state.

Governor Wada made this observation after attending a meeting of state governors with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Idris Wada is among the 36 state governors who are under pressure for owing workers’ salaries, although that of Kogi State is just for a month.

In an interview with Channels Television after meeting with the President, the Governor said that he remained optimistic that he would continue to pilot the state to a logical point, having been able to pay workers’ salaries back to back up till May when the crude oil revenue dwindled further.

Speaking about the just concluded elections in the state, Wada said that some lessons had been learnt and that he was sure the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would retain the state at the next election.

Governor Wada has spent four years in office and has faced several challenges from the opposition political party APC, but he believes that all are mere smoke screen.

He stated that his previous achievements in road construction, provision of hospital facilities and other people-oriented programmes will speak for him.

Kogi State is one of the states with the least allocation from the federation account and with an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of about 500 million naira in a month.
