Police Apprehend Criminals Across Plateau StateThe Plateau State Police Command has made several arrests of suspects on various crimes committed across the state through its Crime and Investigation Department.

The suspects were apprehended through intensive patrolling, raiding of criminal hideouts as well as visibility policing in the Command’s charge to curb criminal activities in Plateau State, north-central Nigeria.

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Oki, gave the update on Saturday while briefing reporters on the Command’s achievements in the last few months.

Among the arrested suspects were a father that cut off the finger of his nine year old daughter for stealing 1, 500 Naira and a member of a gang of motorcyclists specialised in attacking police personnel and traffic wardens, in spite of the ban on commercial motorcycle operation in the state.

However, the police chief emphasised that efforts were been made to bring lasting peace between the embattled Beroms and the Fulani.

He also noted that the command needed more personnel and equipment to combat crime as well as curtail activities of marauders attacking villagers.

As investigations into some of the criminal activities continue, the hitch in prosecuting the suspects hinges on the ongoing strike embarked on by members of the judicial workers union in the state.

This had denied the prosecution of the suspects to ascertain if they were guilty or innocent of the charges against them.
