In spite of the latest attacks by the Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State that claimed several lives, the Chief of Army Staff, LT. General Kenneth Minimah says the terrorists have been seriously degraded by troops of the Nigerian Military.
He broke the news during the passing out ceremony of 152 officers of the Direct Short Service Course 22 at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry Corps, Jaji in Kaduna state.
Their commissioning is part of the federal government’s effort in curbing terrorism in the country through injection of fresh hands into the force.
For six months, the officers were subjected to rigorous physical fitness training to develop their endurance level, and also received lectures on counter terrorism operations.
Addressing the newly commissioned officers, General Minimah told them that they would be joining the rank of officers and men who have demonstrated gallantry and valour in defence of their father land against the terrorists. And therefore, must display a high level of competence and leadership for the support service of the Nigerian Army.
While reminding the officers that the Nigerian Army operates on a philosophy of zero tolerance for misconduct and cowardice, General Minimah told them that, the authorities would demand nothing short of the very best from them.
The Nigerian Army School of Infantry has been a major facilitator and force multiplier in the training of gallant officers, soldiers and also in the fight against terrorism, through effective training of Army personnel and officers of other sister agencies.
