Seven-time champion, Roger Federer edged out Gilles Simon 6-3 7-5 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon.

The Swiss second seed was broken for the first time in 68 service games this year near the end of the second set.

But that was virtually the only blip for the 33-year-old as he won in one hour and 34 minutes.

He will face Andy Murray who enjoyed a 6-4 7-5 6-4 win over Vasek Pospisil of Canada in the semis.

Federer leads their head-to-head with 12 wins to Murray’s 11, but Murray won the last of their duels on grass when the Scotsman picked up gold for Great Britain in straight sets at the 2012 London Olympics.
