Ayade Signs Infrastructure Fund Bill Into LawCross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, has signed into law the state’s Infrastructure Fund Bill.

The signing ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chambers in Calabar, Cross River State’s capital, south-south Nigeria.

In the presence of members of the State’s House of Assembly, Ayade maintained that the State Government’s responsibility to its citizens was beyond providing an enabling and conducive environment for the private sector to grow.

He said that it was the State Government’s duty to provide a platform where people have employment as practiced in developing countries, which the Cross River State Infrastructure Bill intends to practice.

Highlighting the importance of the bill, Speaker of the House of Assembly, John G. Lebo, disclosed that the bill was the first private bill to be entertained by the House since 1999.

He upheld that the legislature’s support for the fund is provided under section four of the Nigerian Constitution.

Lebo also noted that the bill invokes its power under sections 44 and 46 of the state Bureau for Public and Private Enterprises Law.

The law seeks to empower the State Government to source for funding through private investments for its capital projects such as Governor Ayade’s signature projects in its effort to render services to the people of the state.
