Unidentified Gunmen Attack Indian Police StationSome unidentified gunmen have stormed a Police Station in the Northern Punjab State in India, close to the border with Pakistan.

The group was said to have killed at least four persons and injured six in the course of the attack.

Officials said the attackers first hijacked a car, before opening fire at a Bus Station leading them into the police station in Gurdaspur district.

Police believed that the attackers could be from Indian-administered Kashmir.

A Policeman told BBC that the police were exchanging gunfire with the attackers who had occupied the Police Barracks.

Following the attack, Indian security forces have been deployed to the region to strengthen forces to repel further attack.
