toyin SarakiThe wife of the Senate President, Toyin Saraki, was at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  for questioning over an alleged case of corruption.

On Tuesday,

Mrs Saraki was accompanied by dozens of politicians including some serving Senators and some of her supporters to the EFCC’s office in Abuja.

After about five hours with the officials of the anti-graft agency indoors, Mrs Saraki left the premises with her supporters.

Neither the accused nor officials of the EFCC briefed waiting reporters of the latest development.

Mrs Saraki had been accused by the EFCC of an alleged involvement in a multi-million Naira misappropriation of bank loan and laundering of funds from the Kwara State Government while her husband served as the Governor of the state.

However, Senators of a group called ‘Like Minds’ in a statement signed by Senator Dino Melaye, said although, they did not want to make any hasty conclusion, they were surprised that about five years after Senator Saraki left the Kwara State Government House, the EFCC suddenly realised the need to invite the wife for questioning.

They urged the Commission to perform its lawful duties without any form of external control.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in reaction, described the invitation of the wife of the Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki, EFCC as politically motivated.
