Sadique-AbubakarThe Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Sadique Abubakar, says more platforms of the Air Force will be deployed to Yola in Adamawa State to boost the war against terrorism in the north-east.

Air Vice Marshall Abubakar gave the hint on Saturday in Lagos during an inspection of logistics and facilities of the force ahead of the deployment.

The Air Chief told reporters that the military was winning the war against the Boko Haram insurgents and that the deployment would take effect next week.

“I don’t want to say that we are not winning this war. I think we are.

“What we are simply doing now is to re-strategise. We are going through all the activities that we have been doing in the past and the idea is to evaluate these activities to see the ones that we need to improve and that is why I am undergoing this tours of units.

“We started with the operational units, about 16 units that are directly involved in the war in the north-east,” he explained.

Air Vice Marshall Abubakar also stressed the need for adequate logistics to be in place, as the military battles the Boko Haram terrorists.

“We understand that without logistics you can’t fight war.

“So, from what I have seen on ground, I have a highly committed personnel that are working to ensure that every logistic we need to execute the war in the north-east is giving to us.

“As a matter of fact, one of our platforms is moving out of Lagos to Yola by next week. Some of our helicopters are moving from Port Harcourt to Yola and there are a number of platforms that we want to acquire which we are forwarding to the Federal Government,” the Air Chief stated.

He further promised that the welfare of military personnel and the acquisition of more platforms would remain be top priority, giving assurance that there would be significant improvement over the next three months in winning the fight against insurgents in the oil-rich nation’s north-east.
