The Commonwealth Secretary-General, Ambassador Kamalesh Sharma, has held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting holding in Malta in November.
Ambassador Sharma congratulated President Buhari for his emergence as Nigeria’s President, promising that the Commonwealth would help to build Nigeria, and strengthen the country, to provide more opportunities for it’s indigenes.
The Secretary-General also congratulated Nigerians on the electoral process that brought President Buhari to power and the democratic change of government, hoping that the road map the President has enunciated in his inaugural speech would be followed.
He said that Nigeria has been a pillar of strength in the Commonwealth and it was important that the President was aware of the developments in the Commonwealth, ahead of the meeting in Malta.
